LS460 for your time.
So I’m being hounded constantly to go stop being lazy and to go exercise. Trouble is I don’t want to do it. Any good ways to motivate myself to stop being a lazy bum?

Stare at yourself naked. If that doesn’t work, make other people stare at you naked, because when you get sent to prison you can work out to make the time pass by faster.

Start by exercising in home. Do pushups while watching game of thrones. Stairstep on a chair while browsing youtube. Lift some books while waiting for the pot to boil. If you keep with that, then consider getting a set of weights.
Don’t buy equipment, don’t even buy weights yet. Focus on your habits, not on your equipment.
It’s not about not being lazy, it’s about having things to do that you like more than exercising. Do them at the same time and not only will you get the same shit done, but you will also associate exercise with that positive productivity.
People who get all gusto and subscribe to a gym and hope to go there every day end up getting burned out and fucking hate it, which usually makes them want to exercise even less.

Aren’t you in high school? Don’t you have a weight room there?

Don’t do cardio. It’s the most inefficient way possible to lose weight and get in better shape. Cardio burns calories each time you do it, and never again. If you lift weight and build muscle you burn more calories naturally just to survive, allowing you to actually eat more without gaining weight. Focus on basic powerlifting, bench press, deadlift and squats. It takes less time and you’ll notice a difference quickly. See this website:

This quote is one of those moments reading Oppo when I smile and think, “we are in the presence of comic genius.” Thanks!

2 scoops of this. If you don’t do something by the time the your face starts getting hot, you’re gonna have a bad time.

I can’t do exercise for the sake of exercise but I’m far from sedentary.
Get some audio books and just go for walks. With a good one you’ll just get totally lost in it and can be out for hours. It’s also a great way to see more of your neighborhood/parks. If you need incentive, get a dog...they love to walk and once you get in a routine they’ll incessantly beg at that time of the day so you’ll be guilted into it.
Or, if you’re more practical, redo your landscaping, sticking to mainly manual tools. Edging with a spade or trimming with a swing blade is plenty vigorous and it makes the house look good. There’s always some manual labor to do around the house, or if you’re an apartment dweller there’s tons of organizations that do cleanups for common spaces or labor for the disadvantaged.

One winter my brother’s old bike shop set up a projector in their basement and set up a few bikes on trainers, many movies were watched and a few thousand miles were ridden.

I have a treadmill and weight station in my garage. I kinda found the solution of watching endless gaming vids for 45 minutes on the treadmill.

This is what I do on my stationary bike.
Diet is huge too. You can lose a ton of weight just by cutting crap out of your diet, replacing junk with meat n veggies and cooking/measuring your food. Takes some time to adjust but you get used to it. I spend maybe 2-3 hours a weekend cooking my food for the WEEK. Well worth it. I have lost about 12lbs since February. Taking my time to preserve muscle.

Try doing something fun that is also a workout. I play men’s league hockey now, but recently I’ve started paddle boarding and kayaking more. I’ve also heard hot yoga is a real workout, I might try that soon. The trick is to not do cardio for cardio’s sake, because you’ll see a minimal change in your body and you’ll dread doing it. I use to mountain bike a lot. If it must be in a gym setting, the bike or a treadmill with an incline set is much better than just running.

For some reason I will always remember that when they got a hold of the press fleet car, it had absolutely useless brakes. It was great in every way, except it stopped worse than a late 70s Cadillac. Fairly certain it was broken or worn out from other journalists doing stupid things with it. Like this. I love it.

You’ll have to do something to distract yourself from the insane urge to fight bears, rip a house in half, and the insanely itchy skin.
